The destruction of the village, scheduled for the evening of April 1st (Easter Sunday), was prevented at the last moment, after the villagers had already been evacuated, by the intercession of a British prisoner of war, Major Geoffrey Bedding. To this day, April 1st is celebrated with a big festival in Ahl.

This community was on 1 July 1974 with the city and the community Salmuenster Mernes powerful state law to the new town of Bad Orb together .
