Stephanie Beatriz Bischoff Alvizuri (born February 10, 1981 in Neuquén ) is an Argentine - American actress , who became known mainly for the role of Detective Rosa Diaz from the sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine .

Early years

Stephanie Beatriz was born in the city of Neuquén, in the province of the same name in Argentina, as the daughter of a Colombian and a Bolivian. Together with her parents and her sister, when Beatriz was two years old, they moved to the United States, where they settled in the city of Webster in the US state of Texas . Beatriz attended Clear Brook High School and graduated from Stephens College in 2002 before moving to New York City to devote herself to acting. In 2010 she moved to Los Angeles , where she still lives today.

Her distinctive scar over her right eyebrow stems from an accident with a Lego brick when she was ten years old.

Career

Beatriz's acting career began in 2009 when she took a guest role on The Closer series . Before that, she had already appeared on a number of theater stages in her Texan homeland. Other guest roles soon followed on US television, including in Southland , Modern Family , Jessie and Bob's Burgers , where she voiced two characters. Beatriz has also already booked supporting roles, for example in 2012 in Short Term 12 - Silent Heroes as Jessica . In 2014 she appeared as Jill in Luck by My Side and loaned out in Ice Age - Collision Ahead! (2016) the character Gertie the voice.

Her breakthrough, however, managed Beatriz in the role of supercooled acting Detective Rosa Diaz from the Fox - sitcom Brooklyn Nine-Nine , which she has been playing, 2013. In 2017 she was seen as Bonnie in the independent film The Light of the Moon , for which she received a positive response from the critics.

Personal

In 2016, Beatrice announced on Twitter that she was bisexual. In October 2017, she announced that she was engaged to Brad Hoss, whom she married in October 2018. During her time in college, she claims to have suffered from an eating disorder.
