Stephen Cox (cyclist)

Stephen Clifford Cox (born January 6, 1956 in Wanganui ) is a retired New Zealand cyclist .

In 1981 and 1982 Stephan Cox won the important New Zealand road race Tour of Southland , also in 1982 he was New Zealand road champion. In 1984 he took part in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles and finished 37th in the road race. At the 1986 Commonwealth Games in Edinburgh , he won the silver medal in the team pursuit on the track .

Cox started a total of 49 New Zealand tours between 1974 and 1989 . He started 13 times in the Dulux Tour , an extremely popular stage race over six days in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, to which racing drivers from overseas also traveled. In 1979 he won this race.

Today Stephen Cox runs a sports event organization in Hamilton .
