Stephen Marrs tries with his figurative sculpture "to create a feeling of presence and character". Recurring motifs are people, birds and clouds and the symbolic freedoms they embody. Many of his works are conceived as multimedia, in which, for example, he combines carving with oil painting or in which he extends paintings from two to three dimensions.

Marr sees his group of figures Under One Sky as “a fusion of painting, sculpture and storytelling. In this era of global conflict, I have created a work of goodwill. Two people greet each other in a hug that bridges race, creed and nationality. "
