Stephen W. Bosworth
Stephen Warren Bosworth (born December 4, 1939 in Grand Rapids , Michigan , † January 3, 2016 in Boston , Massachusetts ) was an American diplomat . He was the dean of the Fletcher School at Tufts University . He served as special envoy for US North Korea policy from February to October 2009 .
Life
After his Bachelor of Arts (1961) at Dartmouth College , Bosworth completed postgraduate studies at George Washington University .
Between 1983 and 1984, Bosworth had to succeed Paul Wolfowitz to the post of director of policy planning at the US State Department held. From 1995 to 1997 he was Executive Director of the Korean Peninsula Energy Development Organization (KEDO).
During his diplomatic career, he was the United States Ambassador to South Korea (1997-2001), the Philippines (1984-1987) and Tunisia (1979-1981).
Bosworth was a member of the Trilateral Commission . In 2010 he was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .
