Sondre Olden (born August 29, 1992 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Vienna Capitals in the Austrian ice hockey league since December 2018 .
Career
Sondre Olden began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of Manglerud Star , for whose senior team he played for the first time in the 2008/09 season in the second Norwegian division, the 1st division . With the team, he was promoted to the GET league straight away . Subsequently, however, the winger left the club and joined the youth department of MODO Hockey from Sweden. In the 2010 NHL Entry Draft he was drawn by Toronto Maple Leafs in the third round as a total of 79th player, but remained with MODO. In the 2010/11 season he played in a total of three games for the professional team of MODO Hockey in the Elitserien and remained without point and punishment.
For the 2011/12 season Olden moved to the Erie Otters from the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League , who had drawn him in the CHL Import Draft in the first round as a total of 31st players. In September 2012 he returned to Europe and joined the Norwegian first division club Vålerenga Ishockey , for which he played a total of two seasons and, following the 2013/14 season, was named “Player of the Year” and also in the league's all-star team was chosen. In both 2013 and 2014 he was runner-up in Norway with Vålerenga. In April 2014 the attacker hired Brynäs IF from Svenska Hockeyligan , but was loaned back to Vålerenga from January 2015 until the end of the season.
In the 2016/17 season he was under contract with Leksands IF . He then moved to KHL Medveščak Zagreb in the Austrian ice hockey league .
After the financial collapse of Medveščak Zagreb , Olden moved to the Vienna Capitals in December 2018 .
International
For Norway, Olden participated in the junior division in the U18 world championships in the top division in 2009 and in division I in 2010 , as the best assists and top scorer of the tournament was also voted the best player in his team, as well as in the U20 junior world championships in division I in 2009 , 2010 and 2012 , when he was named the best striker of the tournament, as well as the top division in 2011 .
In the senior division, he played for the Norwegian national team in 2014 both at the World Cup in the top division and at the Olympic Winter Games in Sochi . He was also on the ice in the top division at the 2017 World Cup .
