Nikolaus "Niki" Hartl (born December 18, 1991 in Zell am See ) is an Austrian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Vienna Capitals in the Austrian ice hockey league since February 2017 .

Career

Nikolaus Hartl began his ice hockey career in his hometown at EK Zell am See and went through various youth departments there. In 2011 Hartl ventured into the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga to join the EC VSV and spent two seasons there. For the 2013/14 season he moved to the Vienna Capitals and played in the capital for three years.

For the first time in his career, Hartl moved abroad to the Straubing Tigers in the German Ice Hockey League . After 30 games and an assist, he moved back to the Vienna Capitals in February 2017 and strengthened the team for the upcoming playoffs. In the same year he won the Austrian championship title with the Capitals .

International

In the junior division Hartl first played for Austria at the U18 World Cup in 2009 in Division I, when he was the best goal setter. With the U20 selection of the Alpine country, he took part in the 2010 World Cup in the top division and in the 2011 World Cup in Division I.

He made his debut in the men's national team on November 11, 2011 in a 3-2 draw in a friendly against Italy in Miskolc, Hungary . In the following years he also made occasional international appearances, but has not yet been used in world championships or the Olympic Games.
