Sterz is an Austrian magazine for literature , art and cultural politics that has been published since 1977 . The magazine, published in Graz , is Austria 's largest non-commercial culture magazine with a print run of 8,000 copies and is distributed through subscriptions , as well as over-the- counter sales and in 390 book and magazine stores throughout Austria.

Sterz was founded in 1977 by Erich Baumann, Wolfgang Pollanz , Horst A. Schirgi, Wolfgang Temmel and Gerd Wagner. You edited issues 1 to 4.

Sterz only publishes first editions and is open to both known and unknown authors . Since there is no restriction to certain literary genres, the editors publish narrative prose as well as poetry , dramatic texts and essays . Elfriede Jelinek is one of the well-known authors who published in Sterz . Other first publications come for example from Ruth Aspöck , Markus Berger , Uwe Bolius , Georg Bydlinski , Martin Dragosits , Klaus Ebner , Bülent Kacan , Helmut Eisendle , Franzobel , Max Gad , Marianne Gruber , Ilse Kilic , Erika Kronabitter , Elmar Mayer-Baldasseroni , Lutz Rathenow , Gerhard Roth , Knut Schaflinger , Franz Schuh and Peter Paul Wiplinger .
