Steve Wynn (born February 21, 1960 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American singer-songwriter , singer , guitarist , composer , lyricist , musician . He is currently based in New York . Wynn was singer, guitarist and main composer for the band Dream Syndicate from 1981 to 1989. In 1990 he started a solo career.

Career

Prior to founding Dream Syndicate, Wynn played in the band The Suspects of Davis , California. Its members included singer Kendra Smith , Russ Tolman and Gavin Blair . In 1979 her first single, It's Up to You, was released . Two years later, another self-released single, Last Chance for You , was released under the name 15 Minutes .

The Dream Syndicate have never been very successful commercially. The band went on tour with U2 and REM as opening act , but couldn't win over the mass audience.

Since 1990, Wynn has released numerous albums covering a variety of musical styles. He likes to experiment with new developments and invites guest musicians to the studio, but tries to preserve his musical identity. On his first solo album, Kerosene Man , Fernando Saunders played as sidemen on electric bass , DJ Bonebrake on drums , Howe Gelb and Steve Berlin on saxophone . Peter Buck of REM played on the successor, Dazzling Display , and wrote the theme song with. Melting in the Dark from 1996 was recorded with the Boston band Come .

It is important for him to be largely independent of record labels. He believes that anyone who accepts advances is subject to the dictates of the label. He therefore finances his albums in advance and looks for a label with the finished tapes that is ready for publication. Here Come the Miracles (2001) was his best-selling solo album to date.

1985 Wynn wrote a collection of songs together with Dan Stuart of Green on Red , they were under the name of Danny and Dusty recorded and released. In the 1990s he was part of the so-called independent supergroup Gutterball together with Stephen McCarthy from The Long Ryders and Brian Harvey and Johnny Hott from House of Freaks .

In 2004 Blue Rose released a tribute album called From a Man of Mysteries: A Steve Wynn Tribute . Steve Wynn songs were here by artists such as Concrete Blonde , The Silos , Chuck Prophet , Minus 5 , Chris Eckman of the Walkabouts , Rich Hopkins & Luminarios, Chris Cacavas , The Transmissionary Six , Willard Grant Conspiracy and other gecovert .
