Steven Holl

Steven Holl (born December 9, 1947 in Bremerton , Washington ) is a contemporary American architect . His architectural style is attributed to postmodernism and deconstructivism .

Life

Holl graduated from the University of Washington in 1970 and opened his first office in New York City in 1976, and has also taught at Columbia University since 1981 .

Holl is best known for the Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art in Helsinki , Finland from 1988, and the Simmons Hall student residence at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2003. He has been a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters since 2000 and since 2002 from the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .

In 2012, Holl was elected a member ( NA ) of the National Academy of Design .
