Stigmatized is a German thrash and death metal band from Zell , Rhineland-Palatinate , that was founded in 1995.

history

The band was founded in 1995 and consisted of the singer Volker Damrau, the drummer Christian Krämer, the guitarist Wolli Ternes, the bassist Thorsten Schneiders and the guitarist Ralf Strzalka. A first demo and the first appearances followed, before a second demo followed a year later. In 1999, a third demo appeared with Mind Control , before guitarist Ternes left the band in 2002 and Oliver Marmann came to replace the band in June. The group then recorded another demo, which the band sent to various labels and magazines, but they couldn't get a contract. The band also made appearances with Vader , Darkest Hour , Rotting Christ and Obscenity . She then began work on her debut album, during which singer Damrau Reactor left and was replaced by Michael Lay. After the band had signed a contract with Yonah Records , the album Live in Despair was released in early July 2006 . In the same year, the DVD Live in Arnsberg was released in self-distribution. Towards the end of 2007 the band played in Munich with Six Feet Under , Nile , Finntroll and Belphegor . The second album Becoming Unique followed in 2008 via Remission Records . At the end of March 2010 the third album Whispers of the Dead followed . The album was recorded by Jörg Uken in the Soundlodge Studio . Guitarist Ralf Strzalka also plays with Horrizon .

style

The band initially played classic American death metal. On the demo Mind Control there were also occasional Thrash Metal influences. The band was based on the style of the 1990s. Singer Damrau, like his successor Lay, sound like a mixture of Chris Barnes and John Tardy . Live in Despair is very reminiscent of Death's album Human , which is mainly caused by singer Lay, who sounds a lot like Chuck Schuldiner on Live in Despair . On Becoming Unique , the band also played classic death metal, comparable to the works of Pestilence and Death. The band also occasionally reminds of Bolt Thrower , Obituary and Exodus on the album . The band played thrash metal on Whispers of the Dead , with the vocals being reminiscent of Tom Araya from Slayer .
