Stipo Papić (born November 20, 1978 in Berlin ) is a former German basketball player of Croatian origin .

Career

Papić joined TuS Lichterfelde in 1996 and became German A-Youth Champion in the first year with TuSLi . In the following season he already had short assignments in the basketball Bundesliga team of the cooperation partner ALBA Berlin. Otherwise he was active for TuSLi in the 2nd basketball league , with which he was able to qualify for promotion to the first division in 2000. In the 1999/2000 season , however, he was also active in all of Alba’s games. While in previous years he was only indirectly involved in the 1998 and 1999 championship titles at Alba as a member of the management team , in that season he achieved an average of almost 10 minutes at the German championship. Papić was also appointed to the national team for the first time. In the next two seasons the success in the championship could be repeated. With the national team, fourth place was achieved in the finals of the 2001 European Championship , the best position since winning the European Championship in 1993 . Papic 'time stagnated at Alba, however, and after injury problems in the 2001/02 season , he left the club by winning the double in 2002 in the direction of Frankfurt . At the Skyliners , although his playing times increased, but in the play-off quarter-finals of the 2002/03 season he failed with his team at his previous club. For the following season he moved to Cologne . At RheinEnergie , he only played a few games before he fell ill with heart muscle inflammation. His contract with the cup winners of 2004 was then terminated at the end of the season. In 2005 Papić tried a comeback in the Lega Basket Serie A in Roseto degli Abruzzi , which was unsuccessful. His contract was also prematurely terminated here.

From 2006 he was still under-class for the Central Hoops syndicate in his hometown, where he played in the regional league, but was already concentrating on his architecture studies.
