Die Later, Darling (Original Title: Kill Me Later ) is an American thriller comedy from 2001 . Directed by Dana Lustig , who also wrote the script, co-produced the film and took on one of the roles.
action
Shawn Holloway, a bank clerk, ends her relationship with her married boss. She wants to commit suicide due to personal problems and jump from the roof of the bank building. Holloway runs into Charlie Anders, who escapes after a bank robbery. Anders takes them hostage. He promises to kill her as soon as he's safe. In the process, bizarre situations arise again and again, which make Shawn's suicidal intentions sometimes more and sometimes less determined.
Investigators McGinley and Reed follow the trail of the robber who is getting closer to Holloway. In the end, Anders is tracked down by the police, but is able to escape on a motorcycle. He drives onto the bridge from which Shawn jumps down with him to avoid the police. In order not to be hunted any further, they even leave the booty from the bank robbery behind on the bridge. McGinley and Reed take the money and officially declare that they consider the two escaped to be drowned, so the pursuit will end. Shawn and Charlie can realize the dream restaurant by the sea and everyone involved can get out of the story without much damage.
Reviews
Kevin Thomas wrote in the Los Angeles Times on September 14, 2001 that the film authors were "fortunately" more interested in people and their lives than in the robbery shown. Lustig and Gutierrez would focus on the developing relationship between Holloway and Anders. The plot is difficult to follow in places; the end is amusing.
Film-Dienst wrote that the film was an "amateurishly developed thriller with borrowings from the romantic comedy genre, which is predominantly boring " .
