Mike Curb

Michael Charles "Mike" Curb (born December 24, 1944 in Savannah , Georgia ) is an American musician, composer, music publisher, racing team owner and politician . Between 1979 and 1983 he was Lieutenant Governor of the State of California .

Career

Mike Curb began a career in the music industry after college. In the 1960s and 1970s he made a name for himself as a composer of hits for various performers. He also wrote the music for some films. He also founded his own label with Curb Records . In the 1980s he also entered the auto racing industry and had his own NASCAR racing team. He is still connected to this sport today. Politically, he joined the Republican Party . In 1977 he was a member of their national board.

In 1978, Curb was elected Lieutenant Governor of California. He held this office between 1979 and 1983. He was Deputy to Democratic Governor Jerry Brown and Chairman of the State Senate . During this time he had to represent the governor several times during his absence. In 1982 he unsuccessfully sought his party's nomination for the office of governor. Four years later, he also applied unsuccessfully to return to the post of lieutenant governor.

After his tenure as Lieutenant Governor, Mike Curb continued his activities in the entertainment and auto racing business.
