Isaac N. Quinn

Isaac N. Quinn († June 26, 1865 in San Rafael , California ) was an American politician . In 1860 and 1861 he was acting lieutenant governor of the state of California.

Career

Nothing is known about Isaac Quinn's youth and schooling. At an unknown point in time, he came to California, where he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . From 1855 to 1856 he was a member of the California State Assembly ; in 1860 he became a member and President Pro Tempore of the State Senate .

Also in 1860, Governor Milton Latham resigned to join the US Senate . Then his deputy John G. Downey took over the office of governor. In accordance with the state constitution, the now vacant office of Vice Governor was filled by the President pro Tempore of the State Senate. That was Isaac Quinn, who held this office temporarily until 1861. Then he lost the office of President of the Senate to Pablo de la Guerra and with it his role as acting vice-governor, which also fell to de La Guerra.
