Stomp the Yard is an American film drama by Sylvain White from the year 2007 .
action
After a battle, DJ's younger brother Duron is shot dead in a brawl. DJ then moves to his aunt in Atlanta, where he is supposed to study at Truth University. There he falls in love with the beautiful April, the daughter of the university director and friend of the Mu-Gamma guy Grant. Because of his incredible moves, two student associations are soon fighting over him. The Theta s and the Mu Gammas . When DJ opts for the thetas and soon meets with April, the two student associations are more divided than ever. But when Grant DJ complains to the director, everything threatens to fail - the thetas' success in stepping, his relationship with April and the studies that DJ wanted to do for his dead brother. Justin Chang wrote in Variety magazine that the dance scenes are more dynamic than the rest of the plot. The story told is "formulaic".
"A bizarre youth film about the black subculture of battle dancing that gets lost in the aseptic love story and only sells social messages in platitudes."
