The Storebro Stridsbåt 90E is a 11.9 meter long plastic motorboat with a jet drive . It was developed by Försvarets Materielverk (the material testing center of the Swedish Armed Forces ) and Storebro Bruks as Stridsbåt 90E .

Technical specifications

The Stridsbåt 90E is smaller and lighter than the Stridsbåt 90H with an aluminum hull . While the larger boat has two engines and was designed for 18 fully equipped soldiers (half a train ) (hence the designation H ), the Type 90E with only one slightly weaker engine was primarily designed for the transport of four lying patients and two companions developed. The E stands for one engine ( Swedish "grandson" ). In addition to the skipper and the navigator, ten equipped soldiers can be transported. With its plastic hull , the 90E also reaches a higher speed. However, this is difficult to maintain when the waves are high.

The Swedish armed forces have procured 54 units of the Stridsbåt 90E for the Kustartilleriet and Kustjägare , which are now combined in the Amfibieregementet . These naval units only use five of these boats.

LCP 1-4

The Royal Navy in Denmark procured six of these boats in 2003/2004, four of which are used as on-board landing craft (LCP 1–4) on the two largest Danish warships Absalon and Esbern Snare .

SAR 1 Dagmar and SAR 2 Well

The other two boats are used as lifeboats (SAR class) on the next smaller Danish units Knud Rasmussen and Ejnar Mikkelsenåtar . These two were supplied with a reinforced hull for ice drift and more powerful engines.

More boats

The coast guard uses three Stridsbåt 90E and the Sjöpolisen ( German  maritime police ) in Stockholm a boat as a patrol boat . There are also individual privately owned boats.

Special

As the lifespan of the boats is coming to an end, they are gradually being replaced. However, they should not be scrapped, but used again. A possible application on Lake Victoria was examined.
