The Słupsk tram was an electric tram in the Polish city of Słupsk , German Stolp , in the Pomeranian Voivodeship , which was in operation from 1910 to 1959.

history

At the beginning of the 20th century, Stolp in Pomerania was the most important regional center between Szczecin and Gdansk . Industry developed, there were factories for furniture , agricultural machinery , breweries , dairies , a huge cheese factory , sawmills and chemical factories . In connection with the construction of the local power station, an electric tram was also planned. The project was approved in April 1910 and implemented within four months. The contractor was Siemens-Schuckertwerke (SSW), which was the general contractor for the execution of the construction work and the delivery of the tram cars. For the 600th anniversary of the city on September 3, 1910, operations began.

The difficult economic situation after the First World War led to the temporary complete cessation of operations, which lasted from December 1922 to mid-1924.

After the Second World War , the inner city was due to acts of war by the Red Army . Tram operations were resumed at the end of 1945, initially only on a six-kilometer line with eight motor vehicles. In 1949 three lines with a total length of 7.2 km were in operation again.

The tram service was stopped on March 16, 1959.

Route network

When it opened, two lines with a total length of 4.6 km were in operation, which crossed at the market (Rynek), a third line was added in 1913. The depot was in the Amtstrasse (Kopernika).
