Strange Planet is an Australian comedy film from the year 1999 . Emma-Kate Croghan directed the film and co-wrote the script with Stavros Kazantzidis .

action

The film shows the lives of three women - Judy, Alice and Sally - living in a Sydney house between New Year's Day and New Year's Day. The women have relationships with men, some of whom are married and some of whom are much older than themselves. These include lawyer Neil and Ewan, who is considered a womanizer, and whose former partner became pregnant.

Reviews

Derek Adams wrote in TimeOut London that the film was a romantic ensemble comedy that was clever, but never better than halfway. He has a lot of energy, but Croghan proves that making the comedies doesn't go as fast as Woody Allen’s . His only real surprise is how long it takes for fixed pairs to form at the end.

Channel 4 Film's editors wrote that the film , set in Sydney's “chic” locations, offers a “well-watched, sharp” script and a “nice view” of adult problems.

Awards

Emma-Kate Croghan was nominated for the bronze horse of the Stockholm Film Festival in 1999.

backgrounds

The world premiere took place on October 7, 1999 in Australia. On November 20, 1999, the film was shown at the Argentine Mar del Plata Film Festival .
