Sultan Azlan Shah Cup
The Sultan Azlan Shah Cup is a tournament for men's national hockey teams. It was named after Azlan Shah , the former king of Malaysia . The tournament is held annually and is an important part of the international hockey event calendar. The competition usually takes place at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in the capital, Kuala Lumpur . However, in recent years the event has mostly been held in Ipoh in the state of Perak .
This competition was held for the first time in 1983. The first winner at that time was Australia . Germany has won the title until now in 1987 and 2001. Australia is the record winner of the tournament, which has been held annually since 1999.
