The Suntar Chajata Mountains ( Russian Сунта́р-Хаята́ , Yakut Сунтаар Хайата ) is a mountain range in eastern Siberia that is over 2000 m high .
The mountain range extends over a length of 450 km and has shares in the Sakha Republic , in the Khabarovsk region and in Magadan Oblast . In the west the mountains merge into the Verkhoyansk Mountains . To the north of the mountain range lies the Oymyakon highlands . In the northwest, the Suntar-Chajata Mountains border on the Tscherski Mountains . The Sette Daban mountain range runs west of the Suntar Chajata Mountains . The mountains lie on the watershed between the Arctic Ocean (with the river systems of the Lena , Kolyma and Indigirka ) and the Sea of Okhotsk . The highest mountain is the Mus Chaja with 2959 m . The highest part of the Suntar-Chajata mountain range is glaciated. A number of larger rivers have their origin in the mountains. These include the Kolyma source river Kulu and the Indigirka source rivers Chastach and Taryn-Jurjach . To the Lena tributary Aldan flow u. a. Tompo , Judoma and Allach-Jun . To the Sea of Okhotsk flow u. a. Ochota , Kuchtui , Ulbeja , Inja and Jana .
