The SuperStar Libra is a former cruise ship from Star Cruises , a subsidiary of the Genting Group .
history
The ship was built in 1987/88 under the hull number 1294 at Wärtsilä Marine in Turku and commissioned as Seaward for Kloster Cruise . In 1997 the ship was renamed Norwegian Sea , since the shipping company has been called Norwegian Cruise Line since then. In 2005, the parent company Star Cruises took over the ship and renamed it SuperStar Libra . The last cruise for Star Cruises ended on June 27, 2018.
The ship arrived in Wismar in August 2018 . From June 2019 [obsolete] the ship is to be used as a residential ship for workers at the MV Werften site in Wismar, which also belongs to the Genting Group.
Technical data and equipment
The ship is powered by four eight-cylinder - marine diesel engines of the manufacturer Sulzer driven (type: 8ZAL40S). The motors act via speed reduction gear on two controllable pitch propellers . The ship can thus reach a maximum speed of 20 knots . The ship also has two bow and one stern thruster .
Four diesel generators , one Wärtsilä and two BMW generators, are available for the power supply. Furthermore, two auxiliary and emergency generators, a Deutz and a Volvo Penta generator, were installed.
The ship has 709 passenger cabins. With double occupancy of the cabins, accommodation for 1,418 passengers is available. A total of 1,504 passengers can be accommodated.
