After the death of the millionaire Oscar Kohlmeyer, his talking cat Leo Kohlmeyer inherits all of his fortune. Leo's inheritance is $ 5 million, while Oscar's nephew Viktor (Mr. Rigsby) receives only $ 25,000 on the condition that he does not challenge his uncle's last will. Greedy and bossy, his wife Paula (Mrs. Rigsby) urges her husband to do something about it. The Rigbys try to kidnap the cat in order to get the inheritance. Meanwhile, the two children of the cat's new owners, Bart and Veronica, learn Leo's secret that he can speak.
