Jean-Louis Schlesser won the championship title in 1988 with the Sauber-Mercedes C9 / 88

The 1988 Supercup was the third season of the Supercup . The first run took place on May 1st, 1988 at the Nürburgring and the season finale also took place there on September 25th. A total of five races were held in Germany during the season.

The Frenchman Jean-Louis Schlesser won the title in the drivers' championship with 42 points. The Blaupunkt-Joest Racing team secured the team title for the second time after 1986.

championship

In the 1988 season, the regulations of the ADAC Würth Supercup were slightly changed. The racing distance has been increased to around 220 km and the fuel limit for classes C1, IMSA-GTP and GTC has been increased in parallel.

The same venues were on the racing calendar as in the previous season.

The Sauber Mercedes team fielded the Sauber-Mercedes C9 / 88, which was improved on the previous year, in the championship . This racing car was on par with the Porsche 962 C and so Jean-Louis Schlesser won three of the five races with the Sauber-Mercedes. The two rivals Bob Wollek and Hans-Joachim Stuck could only win one race each and ultimately had to be content with second and third place at the end of the season.
