Bob Wollek won the last Supercup title in 1989

The 1989 Supercup was the fourth and final season of the Supercup . The first run took place on April 30, 1989 on the Nürburgring . The season finale on September 24th also took place there. All in all, the season took place. Four of them took place in Germany and one in Great Britain .

Bob Wollek , who competes for the Blaupunkt Sachs Joest Racing Team, won the title in the drivers' championship with 44 points. The Blaupunkt-Sachs-Joest-Racing team defended the team championship and won the third title.

championship

In the last Supercup season, the championship was supported by Sat.1 , so that it was held under the name ADAC SAT1 Supercup.

The race at the Hockenheimring has been removed from the racing calendar. Instead, the second run took place at Silverstone .

After Jaguar was no longer represented in the Supercup with a works team in 1988, Porsche also left after the end of the 1988 season. The Sauber Mercedes team , which was successful in the previous season, also decided not to participate. So in the 1989 season only private racing teams started.

The Blaupunkt-Sachs-Joest-Racing-Team dominated the championship with the Porsche 962 C and was able to secure the first two places in the drivers' championship with Bob Wollek and Louis Krages alias "John Winter" in addition to the team classification . Third place went to the Austrian Walter Lechner .
