Surkhang ( Nepali सुरखाङ ) is a Village Development Committee (VDC) in the Mustang district in the upper Kali Gandaki river valley .

Surkhang is located in the northeast of the district on the border with the Tibet Autonomous Region ( PR China ). Surkhang is located southeast of Lo Manthang on the eastern bank of the Kali Gandaki and was formerly part of the Kingdom of Lo . The rivers Tange Khola and Dhechyang Khola have their source in the Damodar Himal and flow through the area in a westerly direction. The holy lake Damodar Kunda is located in the east of the VDC.

Residents

In 2001 Surkhang had a population of 515. At the 2011 census, Surkhang still had 360 inhabitants (180 of them male) in 103 households.
