Jomsom (also Jomosom ) ( Nepali जोमसोम ) is a village and a Village Development Committee in the upper Kali Gandaki Valley in Nepal and lies at an altitude of 2770 m .
Jomsom is the capital of the Mustang district and is located on the Annapurna Circuit . The place has an airfield that is approached from Pokhara and is therefore often the starting or ending point for trekking tours . A training unit for the high mountain fighters of the Nepalese army is also stationed there. At the southern end of the village is the Mustang Eco Museum with a photo gallery, a collection of local costumes and a library. Since 2008 a dirt road (passable for jeeps and motorbikes) has led from Pokhara to Jomsom and on to the famous pilgrimage site of Muktinath . The apple and apricot growing region of Nepal (Marpha, Tukuche) is located a few kilometers south.
