Susanne Wetterich

Susanne Wetterich (born April 21, 1956 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a German politician ( CDU ), journalist and author. She is chairwoman of the Frauen Union Baden-Württemberg and has been a regional councilor in the Stuttgart Region Association since 2014 .

Career

Susanne Wetterich attended the Berthold-Gymnasium Freiburg and graduated from the Karls-Gymnasium Stuttgart in 1976 . She then studied German and history at the University of Stuttgart , which she completed in 1981 with the first state examination . In 1984 the second state examination followed (higher teaching post at grammar schools) in the subjects of German and history. This was followed by a traineeship at Süddeutscher Rundfunk in 1984 .

From 1985 to 1992 Wetterich was an editor at the Süddeutscher Rundfunk Stuttgart, radio editor “Land und Menschen”. For her reporting in the field of archeology and monument protection , she was awarded the Journalist Prize of the German National Committee for Monument Protection in 1990.

In 1992 she was elected head of the press and information office by the municipal council of the state capital Stuttgart . She held this office until 2002 under the Lord Mayors Manfred Rommel and Wolfgang Schuster . In this function she was one of the two founding managing directors of the Turmforum Stuttgart 21 . In addition, she took on tasks in the German Association of Cities , u. a. as a member of the press committee.

Since 2003 she has been working freelance in media and public relations ("Susanne Wetterich Kommunikation").

Wetterich is parish councilor of the evangelical memorial and Rosenberg parish of Stuttgart and a member of the general parish council of Stuttgart, chairwoman of the sponsoring association of the figural choir of the Gedächtniskirche Stuttgart eV, board member of the German-Israeli Society Region Stuttgart eV, board member of the Swabian Women's Association eV, as well as a member of the board of trustees of the Oesophagus Foundation for Children with esophageal malformation.

Susanne Wetterich is married.

Political commitment

In 2000 Wetterich joined the CDU. She has been a board member of the Frauen Union Stuttgart since 2004, and has been deputy chairwoman since 2008.

Since 2007 she has been a member of the district board of the Frauen Union Nordwürttemberg , of which she has been chairwoman since 2011. In this function, she is also a member of the state executive committee of the Women's Union.

From 2015 to 2019 she was also a member of the national board of the Women's Union.

On July 20, 2019, she was elected state chairwoman of the Baden-Württemberg Women's Union.

Since October 2019 she has been deputy chairwoman of the CDU's Northern Württemberg district association.

From 2012 to 2016 and as press spokeswoman since 2018, she has been a member of the CDU Stuttgart's district executive.

In the coalition negotiations for the formation of the green-black state government in Baden-Württemberg in 2016 , she was a member of the CDU's negotiation commission in the “Social and Health” working group. In the 2017 federal election , she ran for 11th place on the CDU Baden-Württemberg's state list .

Activity as regional councilor

After candidacies in 2004 and 2009, Wetterich moved into the regional parliament of the Stuttgart Region Association via the list of the CDU Stuttgart in the 2014 local elections . There she is a member of the planning committee and a deputy member of the transport committee as well as the committee for economy, infrastructure and administration. She was re-elected in the regional election on May 26, 2019.

From 2004 to 2017 she was also a district adviser in the Stuttgart-West district advisory board.
