The Suspiros Bay ( Spanish Bahía Suspiros , or Bay of Sighs , in Chile Bahía Koegel , in the UK chin Cove ) is a 2.8 km wide bay at the western end of Joinville Island off the northern tip of the Antarctic Peninsula . It is between the Madder cliffs and Cape Kinnes .

They were named by Captain Emilio L. Díaz, head of the Argentine Antarctic Expedition, which lasted from 1951 to 1952. It is named after the difficulties that Díaz encountered while anchoring in this bay. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated this designation into English in 1965. Scientists of the 3rd Chilean Antarctic Expedition (1948–1949) named it after frigate captain Raúl Koegel M., the ship's master of the Maipo on this research voyage . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee in turn named them in 1957 based on the neighboring cape of the same name. Its namesake is the Scottish shipowner Robert Kinnes (1854-1940), a sponsor of the Dundee Whaling Expedition (1892-1893).
