Svaen Lauer (* 1974 or 1975 in Prüm as Sven Lauer) is a German singer . He was the singer of the group Jupiter Jones . Before that he was the singer of the band Caracho .

Musical career

Svaen Lauer came into contact with music at an early age. From the age of ten he was a member of a boys' choir in his hometown of Eifel, Prüm . Lauer was already inspired by different musical styles in his youth. He quickly made contact with various school bands such as "Rasputin" and the jazz & soul formation "Jam". Then Lauer sang with the band "Hornbeam", which was later renamed "Das Schizophren".

After leaving school he studied marine biology and graduated in 2001. He then moved to Hamburg and concentrated on his musical career. In the following years Lauer sang in 16 different bands. These mostly belonged to different styles. During this time, Lauer acquired an extensive repertoire. He was also a member of the band Soulounge . Among other things, he tried his hand at a solo career in 2002 and that year released the two singles Die Sterne are gut und Krieg im Herz in my Heart on WEA Records , which, however, largely went unnoticed. He was supported by musicians such as guitarist Sven Bünger ( Cultured Pearls , Cappuccino ), bassist Andy Hess (among others in Tina Turner's band ) and drummer Bela Brauckmann (Cultured Pearls, Randy Crawford ).

In 2014 he joined Jupiter Jones as a singer . He replaced Nicholas Müller , who had dropped out and suffered from an anxiety disorder. He had been friends with the members of the band since his youth. After various gigs, including at the Northern Lights Festival and the Hurricane Festival , the band played with him the song Der Tod ist ein Meister aus Deutschland by the Hamburg punk band Slime in Dresden, with which they wanted to set an example against Pegida . Then the songwriting process for the first album with Lauer began. This was published on March 25, 2016 and was called Roaring Flags . In November 2017, the band announced their breakup; Jupiter Jones played the last concert together on September 1st, 2018.

Music genre

Solo and at the beginning of his career he mainly sang German-language soul . Jupiter Jones made a change with his entry and switched from her earlier characteristic indie pop back to her musical roots in rock . His bitter, slightly rough voice is typical of Lauer. His empathetic, sensitive style of singing is just as typical for him.
