Sven Zimmermann (born December 12, 1966 in Rostock ) is a German musician, bassist, singer, lyricist and composer. The artist, who lives in Kiel , has been part of the German music scene since the mid-1980s.

Career

Zimmermann was born the son of the double bass player Peter Zimmermann . He works as a solo artist, appears under his own name and with his band Ich bin ne Deutschrockband . Sven Zimmermann is best known as a musician, lyricist and composer for the band Godewind .

Zimmermann founded Germany's first rock & pop school in Kiel in 1997 and another in Rostock in 2000. Today he heads the Rockschule-Russee and is co-owner of the Rock & Pop School in Rostock.

In 1982 the school band EFB (Electric Fire Birds) was founded in Rostock, Zimmermann joined EFB in 1983 as a bassist. In 1984 the band was renamed Rosa Rock. The band has won many awards over the course of its existence. It has been voted the most popular amateur band in the Rostock district by readers of the Ostsee-Zeitung several times , and in 1985 it was named the best young band in the GDR at a youth festival in the city of Suhl . In November 1989 the band achieved their first chart placement in the GDR radio DT64 charts.

At the turn of the century , Zimmermann went to Kiel and a short time later joined the Schleswig band Jack Mc Tiger. He toured with many greats in blues and rock music such as Alvin Lee from Ten Years After . Zimmermann gave his first concert in Kiel with Jack Mc Tiger in the Ostseehalle in front of 10,000 people as support for the band Illegal 2001 , which was popular in the 1990s .

Jack Mc Tiger was renamed Timsen un sien Lüüd (Low German ) at the beginning of 1994 . The front man of Timsen un sien Lüüd was the current guitarist of Santiano , Tim Hinrichsen. Zimmermann switched to the double bass. The rocking double bass became his trademark at this time.

At the end of 1994 Zimmermann founded Northern Germany's first bass duo, DoubleBass, with the Hamburg bassist Carsten Börk.

In April 1997 Zimmermann founded the TwoRemarks band with the drummer Tim Engel, the guitarist Wolfgang Meis, the percussionist Sönke Liethmann and the Kiel pianist Georg Schroeter . TwoRemarks were originally a singing duo consisting of Mark Smith and Reiner Bublitz. The band was then repeatedly reshuffled until the regular line-up, consisting of Mitsch Knauer (keyboard), Tim Engel (drums), Jochen Topp (percussion), Hauke Kliem (guitar) and Sven Zimmermann (bass). With this band, Zimmermann made it back into the German charts. The music director of the radio station NDR 2 , Fred Schoenagel, named this band in 1999 as the best English-speaking act in northern Germany.

Together with the actress Kati Luzie Stüdemann, Zimmermann developed the revue Heimat Reloaded - Die Mugge and the improvised theater Heimat Reloaded - memory sport . In October 2004 the premiere took place at the Kiel Theater.

In 2009 Zimmermann founded the jazz rock band harDholz together with Markus Zell (drums), Christian Muuß (Hammond organ) and Jens Tolksdorf (saxophone). In the same year Zimmermann joined TinaZAHRT, who plays free improvisation and, in addition to Zimmermann, consists of Heiko Klotz (keyboard), Björn Lücker (drums) and Jens Tolksdorf (saxophone).

In October 2009 Godewind started as a bass player, singer and guitarist .
