History and description
The historicist style synagogue was built according to plans by the architect Hans Zeeh. The main facade with an inflated and übergiebelten means risalit was from the characteristic bid panels and a Star of David crowned.
At the beginning of 1916 and in the spring of 1918 windows in the synagogue were broken several times. On the night of November 13-14, 1932, the synagogue portal was forcibly opened and a window was broken. On the night of March 3, 1935, four young people demolished the interior of the synagogue.
During the November pogrom in 1938 , the synagogue was looted by SA and SS men and the building was set on fire. On November 24, 1938, the fire ruins were demolished by city workers. The city of St. Wendel bought the property from the Reich Association of Jews in Germany on October 1, 1942 , with the demolition costs being deducted from the purchase price.
In April 1949, the property came back into the possession of the Saar synagogue community, which sold it in 1951 to a transport company who rebuilt the property.
