The Weidenbach is a four-kilometer long stream in the urban area of Crailsheim in the Schwäbisch Hall district in northeastern Baden-Württemberg , which flows into the central Jagst from the right and east on the southern edge of the settlement in Ingersheim . On the lower reaches it is called Tümpfelbach .

Surname

The official waterway map of Baden-Württemberg has the name section Tümpfelbach begin at the tributary of the Alter-See-Bach next to the federal highway 290. In a description of the upper office from the end of the 19th century, only the name Dempfelbach is used for the Tümpfelbach with or without the Weidenbach , and the lower course following the tributary of the Alter-See-Bach is shown on a map from the first half of the 19th century Labeled Dempfelbach . Since, like today's topographical map, it only notes the name Weidenbach on the upper course before the inlet of the brook from Sulzbrunnen, the name of the brook could also change an inlet higher up to Tümpfelbach / Dempfelbach and the definition of the name change on the inlet point of the Alter-See-Bachs may be due to a misinterpretation.

According to another map, the lower course is called Sulzbach - apparently from the inflow from the Sulzbrunnen, perhaps even including this one . A role for this designation could play that the Sulzbrunnen, its course and the lower course belonged to a different municipality earlier than almost the entire Weidenbach course up to the Sulzbrunnen course.

geography

course

The longer source branch of the Weidenbach rises at about 453  m above sea level. NHN on the northern edge of the small hillside forest Schillingshalde to the open Aasbühl at about 453  m above sea level. NHN and runs around the forest on the north and then north-west side. Then he takes to about 430  m above sea level. NHN takes the shorter source branch from inside the wood. The brook separates from the forest and from here on flows steadily in a westerly direction, initially past the southern edge of Wittau. He is accompanied by a gallery of trees and bushes. After the village, a last run flows into Wolfsbach from the hills. Then it runs as a bare ditch through flat meadow terrain sloping slightly westwards.

From the inflow of the brook from the Sulzbrunnen from the north, a small spring pool on the eastern edge of the Ingersheim commercial development, there are now trees like this along the Weidenbach again. Where it reaches the east side of the B 290 in a small depression , a somewhat longer watercourse flows into it from the south, which drains the damp meadow area Alter See . After crossing under the street, the Weidenbach, now called Tümpfelbach , runs along the southern edge of Ingersheim to the Jagstaue. In this it flows at a little over 401.4  m above sea level. NHN from the right into the middle Jagst , about 300 meters above the Ingersheim river weir.

The Weidenbach / Tümpfelbach is 3.8 km long and flows about 52 meters below its highest source, its mean bottom slope is therefore 13 to 14 ‰.

Catchment area

The stream drains an area of 5.2 km², the highest point of which is at its eastern tip, a little north of Ofenbach on the L 2218 ascending route to the Franconian height about 492  m above sea level. Reached NHN . Here, reed sandstone ( Stuttgart formation ) lies on only a small area , the highest layer in the catchment area. To the west, most of it lies in the Gipskeuper ( grave field formation ), which is recognizable on the hill edges by a restless height profile. The Sulzbrunnen and numerous other mineral-rich springs are probably fed from the gypsum karst. The Lettenkeuper ( Erfurt formation ), into which the Tümpfelbach flows, only sets in far to the west in flatter terrain .

The upper catchment area has a share of the western foothills of the Crailsheimer Hardt , a sub- natural area of the Frankenhöhe, which border it in a pincer-like manner . Most of it, however, lies in the Crailsheimer Bucht , the wide exit bay of the Jagst from the Keuperberge, which belongs to the natural area Hohenloher and Haller Ebene . Beyond the right and northern watershed on the Laubberg , over which the L 2218 rises, the Hammerbach drains from Westgartshausen the next small Gipskeuper erosion bay over the Trutenbach to Jagst below Ingersheim. Behind the left and southeastern watershed, the Degenbach flows to the Jagst far above the Tümpfelbach estuary. On this side of the ridge separating the Degenbach, there is a short section of the southern watershed near the Altes See towards the small Jagst tributary Erlenbach, close to the hunt and hardly noticeable in the terrain .

There is some forest on the slopes below the southeastern watershed, but the vast majority of the area is open terrain in which the meadows dominate. The hamlet of Wittau is located on the right of the upper reaches , and on the lower right is the village of Ingersheim , only part of which is in the catchment area. The whole area belongs to the city of Crailsheim .

Mouth of the Tümpfelbach from the right and east to a little over 401.4  m above sea level. NHN on the southern edge of Ingersheim in the middle Jagst . The entire stream is 3.8 km long and has a catchment area of 5.2 km².

Protected areas

The landscape protection areas Keuperstufenrand near Wittau and Lerchenberg-Hahnenberg are predominantly in the catchment area, two more to a small extent. The small depression at the mouth of the Alter-See-Bach and the Sulzbrunnen and the surrounding area are protected as natural monuments, as are some of the remains of heather around Wittau that are typical of Crailsheimer Hardt. The Sulzbrunnen and a gypsum quarry just east of the Ingersheim industrial park at the foot of the Laubberg are designated as geotopes.
