Location and landscape

Taimali Municipality is located in the southeastern part of Taitung County and consists of a strip of land that extends north-south along the Pacific coast. Most of the time, the terrain rises, sometimes steeply, from the Pacific to the interior. Administratively, Taimali is divided into the nine villages of Beili, Dawang, Duoliang, Huayuan, Jinlun, Meihe, Sanhe, Taihe and Xianglan. The region is seismically active. On May 16, 2017, a seaquake with an epicenter occurred about 60 kilometers off the coast of Taiwan.

Longxi train station is located in the south of the municipality. After crossing Longxi Bridge on Provincial Highway No. 9 south, Dawu Town begins . If you follow provincial expressway 9 to the north, you will reach the former Duoliang train station after 6 kilometers and the small town of Jinlun after approx. 2 kilometers. Another 6 kilometers to the north is Dawang with the Taimali community train station. Another 5 kilometers away is Sanhe (also San-Ho) with its coastal park, which is appreciated by both tourists and locals. The park is in close proximity to the Pacific and offers a large recreational area. Sanhe is the northernmost town in Taimali municipality. Further north, the provincial expressway 9 branches off inland and along the Pacific coast begins the provincial expressway No. 11 with the next small town of Zhiben, which belongs to the city of Taitung (in the district of the same name).
