Administrative division

Daren is divided into 6 villages (names in Paiwan language, Chinese script and transcription): Tjuamanges / Tjuaqau / Tjuavanaq ( Chinese  台 坂 村 , Taichung), Tjuluqalju / Cuwabar ( 土 坂 村 , Tuban), Kuvareng ( 新化 村 , Xinhua) , Aljungic ( 安 朔 村 , Anshuo), Tjarilik / Morinaga ( 森 永 村 , Senyong) and Ljupetje ( 南 田村 , Nantian).

economy

The main line of business is agriculture. Local products are coffee , olives , herbs, mushrooms and adzuki beans .

Infrastructure

In the southern section (Aljungic / Anshuo) Daren is crossed by the southern connecting line ( 南 迴 線 ) of the Taiwanese railway, which connects the city of Taitung with the municipality of Fangliao in the district of Pingtung. There is no regular train stop in Daren. The Central Tunnel ( 中央 隧道 ) is located on the border with neighboring Pingtung County . At 8,070 meters, it is Taiwan's second-longest railway tunnel. Provincial road 9 runs further south and east of the railway line (through Aljungic / Anshuo and Tjarilik / Senyong).

The community of Daren was temporarily under discussion as one of two possible locations for an interim storage facility for low-level radioactive waste.

tourism

The community has hardly been developed for tourism so far. In addition to nature, the folk culture of the Paiwan, which is expressed in numerous festivals, is worth seeing.
