Tal Wilkenfeld (* 2. December 1986 in Sydney ) is an Australian jazz - and fusion - bassist , singer and songwriter .

Life and early career

Wilkenfeld started playing the guitar at the age of 14 and switched to the electric bass at 17 . She dropped out of high school to become a musician and moved to the United States at the age of 16 . She started out as a session musician in Los Angeles . After two years she moved to New York City , where she performed with musicians including Jeff Tain Watts , the Allman Brothers Band , Leni Stern , Russell Ferrante , Susan Tedeschi , Hiram Bullock , Kenwood Dennard , Adam Deitch and David Kikoski . There she released her debut album Transformation in 2007 , on which seven tracks composed, produced and arranged by her can be heard.

In 2008 the readers of "Bass Player" magazine voted them the most interesting new discovery of the year.

At the age of 21, Wilkenfeld accompanied both Chick Corea on tour in Australia and Jeff Beck through Europe. Since then she has played with many other greats such as Eric Clapton , Steve Lukather , Herbie Hancock , Joss Stone , Wayne Shorter , Lee Ritenour , the Wayne Krantz Trio, Jackson Browne , Ryan Adams and Corinne Bailey Rae . When Jeff Beck was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009, Wilkenfeld played with Jimmy Page .

Tal Wilkenfeld became an advertising partner for Sadowsky Guitars and the Swedish amplifier company EBS at an early age .
