Tango (Original title: Tango, no me dejes nunca ) is a Spanish-Argentine tango film directed by Carlos Saura in 1998. The film received Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for best foreign film.
action
After the famous theater director and tango dancer Mario Suárez was left by his girlfriend and most important dancer Laura, he plans his next project, a musical about tango. One evening his main investor, Angelo Larroca, introduces him to the beautiful young dancer Elena Flores and asks him to give her a role. Mario starts an affair with her, even though she is Angelo's lover and Angelo's lover threatens her if she leaves him. In addition, investors are dissatisfied with the violent portrayal of military repression and torture from Argentina's past. There is an escalation during the dress rehearsal.
criticism
"Brilliantly photographed and choreographed film about Argentina, tango and aging, whose alienating play with irony and pathos tires in the long run, but still convinces as an opulent history of tango."
