action
During a tour of Stuttgart's Großmark market hall, an employee of the security service discovers the dealer Joseph Janicek stabbed to death and lying next to him is the 19-year-old son Geza, who is mentally disabled and hugs his dead father. He has the weapon in hand, and when Inspector Bienzle approaches him, the boy says: It's my fault. However, the guard reports that someone ran away when entering the hall. Nevertheless, Bienzle takes Geza with him to the station and can only with difficulty persuade the young man to “cooperate”. Hoping to get better access to Geza, Bienzle takes the boy in.
Bienzle and Gächter initially concentrate on Siegfried Körner, the victim's employee. He has a criminal record for assault and is determined to take over his boss's position. Bienzle is gradually discovering that the victim not only traded sausage and cheese, but also stolen jewels. His fortune has grown to a total of five million euros, which his son will now inherit.
Surveys of the market people reveal that the victim was friends with the secretary of the market leader. When Milena Mechtel returns from a short vacation, she is shocked by the events that have occurred. After their one and a half year relationship with Janicek, they planned to get married soon as they were expecting a child together. Geza should then switch to a kind of assisted living. Bienzle had recently noticed that Geza did not have a good relationship with women and even reacted jealously when Bienzle got a kiss from his girlfriend. So he provokes a situation in which Geza becomes irascible and Bienzle finds out that the boy learned from Siegfried Körner that he would have a sibling. In anger that he no longer had his father to himself, Geza had picked up the knife and stabbed his father.
