action

Mike Dippon, who, according to his understanding, has inherited the winery from his mother who has just passed away together with his brother Karl, falls in an unexplained manner over a railing into the depths. Commissioners Bienzle and Gächter are called in to find out whether there is a homicide or just an unfortunate accident. After the forensic technician's examination, however, an accident quickly ruled out. When questioning the possible suspect, a Ralf Schaufler is targeted by the investigators. The company owner has had a dispute with his neighbor for a long time, both privately and commercially. Due to the "failure" of his adversary, he can hope for a new contract as a supplier to the company in which Dippon worked. But his successor, Stefan Butz, does not want to give Schaufler a contract either. That means his ruin and out of desperation he wants to ambush Butz, but before he can harm him, Butz is shot by an unknown person. A data CD that the forensic scientist found on the victim shows that Mike Dippon had blackmailed his boss Haubrich, which his successor now very likely wanted to continue. Bienzle talks to Haubrich, who then admits to having shot Butz. However, he has nothing to do with the death of Mike Dippon. All along, Bienzle and Gächter were of the opinion that the motives for the murder had nothing to do with Dippon's work. Meanwhile, however, Bienzle finds out that Karl Dippon benefits most from the death of his brother. He is the sole heir because his mother had already given him the winery, but his brother did not accept that. He had asked Karl to pay him off. However, since he could not do this without selling a vineyard that is the basis of their old family business's existence, the two of them got into such an argument that Mike Dippon fell over the railing in his rage.

criticism

The Berliner by choice assesses this crime scene positively and writes: “All the characters in 'Bienzle and Death in the Vineyard' are at home in the world of wine or machines, a wonderful Swabian scenario, and they speak and act as you would now once thinks of Swabia. Perhaps the characters also appear authentic because they are colored locally and you can follow them easily without a dictionary in High German on the sofa - that is not the case wherever local is emphasized. [...] The characters are conclusive, how they act is imaginable. [...] You haven't turned the screw so far that the logic turns burst and only mental cross-border commuters appear. "

The critics of the TV magazine TV Spielfilm consider this crime scene to be “leisurely”, but also “very realistic”. "The Swabian Columbo takes it easy, actors who seem to be cast from the middle of life compensate for it."

Awards

Bienzle and Death in the Vineyard received the Golden Romy for Best Screenplay at the 2007 Romy Awards .
