The Tatzenbach is a one and a half kilometer long stream in the municipality of Obersontheim in the district of Schwäbisch Hall in north-eastern Baden-Württemberg , which joins east of the hamlet of Hausen from the left and west-northwest with the right Brückbach to the Riedbach .

geography

course

The Tatzenbach arises at about 405  m above sea level. NHN near a field barn in the Wiesengewann Seeteich about 300 m northwest of the hamlet Siehdichfür the municipality Obersontheim beyond the narrow vineyard protruding to the east (about 440  m above sea level ). The initially rather meager body of water runs eastwards in a grassy meadow channel and crosses under the well-developed dirt road from Siehdichfür northwards to Sandrain , from which there is a branch to the east-southeast to the northern edge of the hamlet of Hausen .

Initially through a wide strip of grass up to a dozen meters wide from the path on the right, the small body of water, which flows without trees or bushes on the bank, now separates the Schindäcker left and Seeäcker basins on the bottom of a one and a half to two meters deep, torn, earthy channel right. Further down, these are followed by the almost completely plowed Grundäcker on the left - with an evacuated farm close to the stream - and Hinteräcker on the right, behind which the edge of the settlement is located. After a few trees at the end of the farm road, the Tatzenbach crosses under the old route of the L 1060 on the side of the northernmost house of Hausen.

It cuts through the meadows of the Gewann Neuäcker in a dead straight ditch and is then passed about 70 meters north of the field path bridge over the road under the Neutrasse of the L 1060. It now runs in a slightly less straight course with sporadic bushes on the bank in or on the edge of the damp reed meadows , which separate the Neuäcker , which continues to the left, and the even higher Tatzenäcker from the Stircheläcker, to the right. At a crossing field path he reaches the K 2619 Hausen– Untersontheim , crosses it and joins after about 60 meters along the field path at its brook bridge at about 370  m above sea level. NHN with the last coming from the west, noticeably larger Brückbach to Riedbach , which flows eastwards.

After its 1.5 km run with an average bottom gradient of about 23 ‰, the Tatzenbach flows about 35 meters below its origin. Apart from a 50-meter-long source drain in the reed meadows and short trenches next to the initially crossed field path and next to the district road, it has no superficial tributaries.

Catchment area

The Tatzenbach drains an area of around 0.7 km², which lies entirely in the suburb of Untersontheim . About one-eighth of the catchment area in the far west part of the natural area for subspace Fischachbucht and edge heights of the Swabian-Franconian Forest Mountains , the rest of the subspace Vellberger Bay of Hohenlohe and Haller level . The highest point is 100 to 160 meters south of the source on the narrow, about 440  m above sea level. NHN high spur of the vineyard .

In the north it borders the catchment area of the long Roßbach , the last Riedbach tributary. In the south, the right Riedbach-Oberlauf Brückbach, which is more important than the Tatzenbach, competes .

The catchment area is mainly in the Gipskeuper ( Grabfeld Formation ). Some younger Quaternary sediments are deposited on it around the course itself . The brook runs in the lake pond and a little way beyond the cross-country path to the Sandrain in a narrow strip of alluvial sediment and further down, for example at the evacuated farm, a wider band of Holocene runoff begins . Much further down, beyond the new L 1060, the Lettenkeuper ( Erfurt formation ) begins at the foot of the slope on both sides of the Riedwiesen .

A few loamy, only rarely water-bearing gullies run down from the vineyard down to the edge of the Gewanns Seeteich, without a continuation in the meadow to the origin of the Tatzenbach being recognizable. The Won name suggests that this is the not registered already on older cards, but 1750 still existing semi morning was great lake at Hausen.

In the Riedwiesen, on the left after crossing the state road at the foot of the slope, there is a flat sunken gypsum keuperdoline of around 11 ares that is protected as a natural monument, unusually in the transition area to the Lettenkeuper. A ring of tall poplars surrounds a meadow, and a short ditch leads the outflow of a spring to the Tatzenbach.

Close to the mouth, wet meadows rich in sedges lie on both sides of the county road.
