Technical assistant

Technical assistant is part of job titles in Germany . The profession of state-certified technical assistant can be learned as an apprenticeship at appropriate vocational schools or as a classic in-company training in the dual system . Technical assistants work in pharmacies (PTA), medical (MTA), chemical (CTA, ATA), physical (PhyTA), biological (BTA, ATA) and photo-technical (FTA / META) laboratories, in the food industry (CTA, ATA) and generally in the research and development of new process technologies.

School education takes two or three years. School assistant training is often coupled with the technical college entrance qualification (Fachabitur) and thus last three years in most federal states. Coupling with the general higher education entrance qualification is often also possible and then takes four years in most federal states. They build knowledge for a degree.

The training courses for medical-technical and pharmaceutical-technical assistants are regulated by federal law , all others are regulated by state law. In the case of the two nationally standardized job profiles, additions were made in some cases by state law.
