The tea house is a building in the Rosenhöhe Park in Darmstadt ( Hesse ).
Architecture and history
The tea house was built in the middle of the first half of the 19th century . The design of the two-storey classical building is attributed to the court architect Georg Moller .
Moller equipped and furnished the landscape garden on the Busenberg , which Michael Zeyher had laid out on behalf of Grand Duchess Wilhelmine , with Biedermeier buildings .
The small cube-like building consists of masonry with wooden trim . The south side of the tea house is the front side; with a full width wooden balcony cut into the house cube. The protruding balcony construction and the roof beams , which are partially visible at the front, give the brick-built structure at the rear the character of an airy, light pavilion .
The striking details of the tea house include the beautifully carved balcony railing and the elaborate painting with bird motifs and geometric patterns on the balcony and facade . The gilded top of the slate-covered , flat tent roof is remarkable . Gilded spheres and a gilded crescent moon adorn the roof of the pavilion.
In the 2010s the tea house was extensively renovated . The re-inauguration took place in 2015 .
