history

The ship was built under the hull number 55 at the Skála Skipasmiðja shipyard in Skála . The keel was laid in September 1999, the launch on May 9, 2000. It was completed on March 29, 2001.

Routes and driving times

The ferry route 60 between Skopun and Gamlarætt and the ferry route 61 between Gamlarætt and Hestur

The ship is used on route 60 between Skopun on Sandoy and Gamlarætt on Streymoy and route 61 between Gamlarætt and Hestur . The main route of the ferry is route 60 Skopun and Gamlarætt. The crossing takes 30 minutes. On Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday the Teistin runs twice a day between Gamlarætt and Hestur. This route is also served daily by the Spógvin passenger ferry . The crossing takes 20 minutes.

Technical specifications

The ship is diesel-electric powered by two electric motors with an output of 800 hp each, which act on two propeller pods. For the power supply are five generators available that of Volvo Penta - Diesel engines are driven type D15 MB each with 432 kW of power. For port operations, the ship has a generator powered by a Volvo Penta D7 MG diesel engine with an output of 129 kW. Furthermore, an emergency generator was installed, which is driven by a Deutz diesel engine.
