The ship is used on route 60 between Skopun on Sandoy and Gamlarætt on Streymoy and route 61 between Gamlarætt and Hestur . The main route of the ferry is route 60 Skopun and Gamlarætt. The crossing takes 30 minutes. On Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday the Teistin runs twice a day between Gamlarætt and Hestur. This route is also served daily by the Spógvin passenger ferry . The crossing takes 20 minutes.

The ship is diesel-electric powered by two electric motors with an output of 800 hp each, which act on two propeller pods.
