Teopisto Valderrama Alberto

Teopisto Valderrama Alberto (born September 19, 1912 in Bagamanoc , Catanduanes ; † May 2, 1996 ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman who was Bishop of Sorsogon between 1952 and 1959 and Archbishop of Caceres from 1965 to 1983 .

Life

Alberto was ordained a priest on March 7, 1937, and was appointed first Bishop of Sorsogon on July 10, 1952 . As such, he received the episcopal ordination on October 7, 1952 by the Apostolic Nuncio in the Philippines Archbishop Egidio Vagnozzi , whose co- consecrators were the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Nueva Segovia and Titular Bishop of Limata Juan C. Sison and the Bishop of Legazpi Flaviano Ariola . On September 7, 1959, he was appointed coadjutor of the Archdiocese of Caceres and titular archbishop of Amastris . His successor as Bishop of Sorsogon was then Arnulfo Arcilla .

On April 6, 1965, Alberto succeeded Pedro Paulo Santos Songco as Archbishop of Caceres . On October 20, 1983 he resigned from this office, whereupon Leonard Zamora Legaspi was his successor. In 1964 and 1965 he took part in the third and fourth session of the Second Vatican Council . As archbishop he donated the episcopal ordination on April 30, 1967 to Jesus Varela , on July 5, 1967 to Carmelo Dominador Flores Morelos and on September 1, 1974 to Celestino Rojo Enverga .
