Extraction and presentation

Tetrasul can be produced by etherification of 2,4,5-trichlorothiophenol with p -chloronitrobenzene and sodium hydroxide in a Williamson ether synthesis , subsequent reduction with iron , reaction with nitrous acid and copper (I) chloride in a Sandmeyer reaction .

Tetrasul was used as an acaricide on cucumbers and tomatoes.

Admission

In the European Union, Tetrasul was not included in Annex I of Directive 91/414 / EEC with Regulation (EC) No. 2076/2002 of November 20, 2002. For this reason, no plant protection products containing Tetrasul may be approved in the EU countries.

In Germany, Austria and Switzerland, no pesticides with this active ingredient are permitted.
