Thuringian Geological Association

The Thuringian Geological Association is an association for the promotion of knowledge of the geosciences of Thuringia , based in Jena . He maintains the tradition of geoscientific research in Thuringia and collects relevant documents about it in an archive of the association.

history

On February 14, 1925, four existing geological associations in Erfurt, Gera, Jena and Saalfeld merged to form the Thuringian Geological Association. The aim of the association was to research the geological conditions in Thuringia. After the club's life came to a standstill after the end of the Second World War and the club had de facto ceased to exist, it was re-established in 1990 in accordance with the basic principles of its predecessor.

Publications

The association has published the scientific journal Articles on the Geology of Thuringia, New Series, and the newsletter of the Thuringian Geological Association since 1994 .

Before that, a total of 8 volumes of articles on the geology of Thuringia were published by 1955. Issues 1 to 3 of the last volume VIII were published in 1944, volumes 4 to 5 as an emergency edition in 1947 and volume 6 in 1955 with a Ceratiten work by Hans Werner Rothe .
