Thürungen is a district of the country town of Kelbra (Kyffhäuser) in the district of Mansfeld-Südharz in Saxony-Anhalt .

location

Thürungen is located north of the Kyffhäuser Mountains and north of Kelbra in the Golden Aue , east of the dam of the Kelbra dam . The federal highway 85 leads past the district to the west, crosses the railway line Halle - Nordhausen east of Berga (Kyffhäuser) and has a connection there to the federal highway 38 .

First mention

On July 2, 936, the village was mentioned for the first time in a document after Dobecker. According to Wolfgang Kahl , it was first mentioned in 1348. A stone in the place commemorates the first mention as a dings in 1005.

history

In 1277 the Counts of Hohnstein donated the church to the Kelbra monastery . The noble family von Bendeleben owned an estate in the district that was expropriated after the Second World War .

In 1902 the village church was replaced by a new building in neo-Gothic style. In 1915, the Berga-Kelbra – Artern railway line was opened by Kyffhäuser Kleinbahn AG, which ran through the local area until 1966. In 1972 Thürungen was incorporated into Kelbra.
