TheFatRat (born June 1, 1979 in Göttingen ; actually Christian Friedrich Johannes Büttner ) is a German music producer whose music style is most likely to be assigned to glitch hop. Many of his works are available free of charge on SoundCloud, among others .

Life

Born in Göttingen , Büttner began playing the flute at the age of four and learned to play the piano at the age of six . His original career aspiration was a conductor . In 2001 he started producing music himself. In the beginning he mainly created background music for television , radio , commercials and ring tones or produced for other artists and DJs . Under the pseudonym TheFatRat he later published remixes and, from 2013, increasingly his own works. According to his own statements, a song takes anywhere from a few days to several years.

In the meantime Büttner u. a. in Munich and Los Angeles , in 2013 he moved back to the vicinity of Göttingen. He is married and has a daughter.

Career

2012: musical beginnings

On January 8, 2012 Büttner released his first remix for the song "Very Good Feeling" by Flo Rida . The next remix followed on February 7th for "Next Levels" by Avicii . Also on February 7th, he released his remix for The Knocks single "Brightside". The next Gotye remix "Somebody I Used To Know" followed on February 27th .

On March 10, 2012, he released his remix for "Don't Stop" by Foster the People . On July 30th, 2012 he released his remix for Martin Solveig's single "The Night Out". On the same day he released his song "Do Harder Be Faster" in cooperation with Daft Punk .

On October 14th 2012 Büttner released his remix for the single "Turn The World On" by Static Revenger . Three weeks later he released his remix for Pacific Air's "Float" . He released his last remix in 2012 on December 3rd for "Don't Wake Me Up" by Chris Brown .

2013: Further remixes & first own songs

The year 2013 started on January 6th with another remix for a single from The Knocks, this time for "The Feeling". On January 23rd he released his first solo song entitled "Do Be Do Be Do".

On March 22, 2013 he released his remix for the single "Set It Off" by Diplo and Lazerdisk Party Sex . The next remix followed on May 20, 2013 for "The Tide" by Singularity and Steffi Nguyen . On June 22nd 2013 he released his remix for Atlas Genius song "If So". The next remix followed on July 31, 2013, this time for the song "Picking Up All The Pieces" by Strange Talk .

On September 21, 2013 Büttner released his second solo song called "Dancing Naked". He ended 2013 with a remix for "All Night" by Icona Pop on November 28th.

2014: Song releases & cooperation with Tasty

On January 12th 2014 Büttner started with the song "Infinite Power". On September 29, 2014 he released his most successful song "Unity" after the YouTube views. The song has over 173 million views.

On November 19, 2014 he released his song "Windfall", which was created in conjunction with the music label Tasty. On November 29, 2014, another song was created in connection with Tasty with the title "Xenogenesis", which formed the end of 2014. The song is also available on the Trap Nation YouTube channel .

2015: More songs & cooperation with Tasty and MrSuicideSheep

Büttner started 2015 on January 25th with a remix of the song "We Are The Dream" by Sound Remedy . Four days later he released another song associated with Tasty called "Never Be Alone".

On April 17th his song "Time Lapse" was released in cooperation with the music label MrSuicideSheep . On June 20, 2015, he released his first mixtape . On October 9, 2015, he released the song "Telescope".

On November 7th, 2015 he released another song in cooperation with MrSuicideSheep called "Monody". The vocals were provided by the singer Laura Brehm . The song marked the end of 2015.

2016: More songs & first EP

In 2016 Büttner released the song "The Calling" on March 31st, which was sung again by Laura Brehm. On June 3, 2016 he released the song "No No No". On July 4th, 2016 he released his song "YOUTUBERS LIFE RAP" in cooperation with the rapper Kronno Zomber .

On November 18, 2016, he released his first EP called "Jackpot EP", consisting of the songs "Jackpot", "Epic", "Prelude" and "Elegy". The songs formed the background music of his Q&A released on May 29, 2015. The song "Epic" can also be found on the MrSuicideSheep YouTube channel. A week later he released the radio edit version of his song "Monody".

On December 4, 2016, he published his one million subscriber special in the form of an almost one-hour music mix of all of his songs. The end of 2016 was a remix of his song "Monody" for the Rolling Sky app on December 27th.

2017: Song Releases

The year 2017 began in the form of a VIP edit version of his song Prelude on February 10th in cooperation with the Dutch music producer JJD . On March 24th, 2017 Büttner released the Da Tweekaz remix of his song The Calling .

On June 2, 2017 he released the song Fly Away in cooperation with the singer Anjulie . The instrumental version followed on June 22, 2017. On October 21, 2017 he released the remixes by Inukshuk and JJD.

On October 27, 2017, the song Oblivion was released with the singer Lola Blanc .

2018: 3rd cooperation with Laura Brehm

On March 23, 2018, Büttner released the song MAYDAY in renewed collaboration with the singer Laura Brehm. On November 14th, 2018 he also released "Afterlife", "Elevate" and "Origin" and on July 24th, 2018 "Threnody".

2020: Cooperation with Maisy Kay

On February 7th, 2020 Büttner released the song "The Storm" in cooperation with Maisy Kay. Parts of the song were sung in Na'vi , the language from the science fiction film Avatar .
