action

Christmas has a long tradition at Pierce, but in 2018 everything is different: Doug, father of the family, died trying to save people from a burning house. Mama Claire is overwhelmed with her job as a nurse. While the younger sibling Kate is looking forward to Christmas, Teddy is embarking on a criminal career. He drinks beer with his friends and is caught by Kate stealing a car. When she confronts him, there is an argument, but Kate covers her brother.

When Claire is called on to the night shift on Christmas Eve , she forces Teddy to take care of his sister. When Kate watches an old Christmas video, she notices a strange hand in a picture and is convinced that it belongs to Santa Claus. The two decide to wait for Santa Claus and film his appearance. In fact, their plan succeeds and they see and film Santa Claus, who moves lightning fast through their street. You will also find the sled and daringly hide in it. When they surprise Santa Claus during the sleigh ride, there is a momentous crash. The sleigh is over, the reindeer are gone, as is Santa Claus' hat and the sack with the presents.

Kate and Teddy decide to help Santa and they set out to find the missing reindeer. They "borrow" the car of a car thief that he had also stolen and a chase with the police breaks out. While Kate tends to the reindeer, Santa and Teddy are arrested. But Kate brings the reindeer to the place of arrest and Teddy escapes with Kate. The two now go to look for the sack from Santa Claus, while he is arrested and locked up.

When the two find the sack, Kate climbs in and ends up at the North Pole, in Santa's house, where she finds the hard-working elves. Meanwhile, Teddy falls into the hands of several gangsters who want to loot the sack. But there is only coal in every gift. Finally, with the help of the elves, Teddy manages to escape. Then they free Santa Claus from custody, where he and his fellow inmates are playing a version of Santa Claus Is Back in Town (originally by Elvis Presley ).

With the repaired sledge, the kids and Santa deliver the presents and make it just in time for sunrise. Then the three say goodbye. On Christmas morning, Kate receives the present she has chosen and Teddy receives a Christmas ball in which he sees his father for the last time.

Reviews

The film was shot differently. Stephen Snart only gave one of five stars on TheGuardian.com and described it as unnecessary in his review.
